Gerry Pagano Bass Trombone Mouthpieces

For the past year, I've been working with Gerry Pagano and Mark Hoelscher on a new bass trombone mouthpiece. On Gerry's most recent trip, we were able to come up with something we're proud to offer as my first Artist Series bass model.

Artist Series Bass Model GP

This mouthpiece is very well balanced. I work with a lot of bass trombonists, so I'm quite sensitive to the needs of you guys. While we all love big bass trombone sounds, a bomastic low register usually equates to a wide-open, "false ringing" upper register. This piece addresses that with a big bass sound in the low register that also works great in the upper register. And it does that without being overly bright.

$250

Cup Diameter: 1.125" or 28.575 mm
Rim width: 1.595" or 40.513mm
Throat: .306"

Artist Series Bass Model GP6

The GP6 was created for those old-school fans of the 60 that like a thinner rim and wider cup diameter. If you like the GP but desire a larger bottom and more room for your face in the cup, this is probably the mouthpiece for you.

How does it differ from a 60? The rim shape on the inner bite is the same as the GP, as is the overall cup depth and shape. The throat is also the same size as on the GP. As with the GP, the upper register is clean, clear and very trombone-like. The lower register still pops and maintains a good resonant sound that the GP is known for. The GP6 may be the solution you're looking for or another step towards the mouthpiece straight jacket.

Price:
$250
Specs:
Cup Diameter: 1.1425" or 29.0195 mm
Rim width: 1.555" or 39.497mm
Throat: .306"

Artist Series Bass Model GP7

The GP7 was created for those select few that needed something "Bigger". If you like the GP 6 but still think you need more room inside the cup for your plump lips, this is probably the mouthpiece for you.

How does it differ from a GP6? It's exactly the same, just a wider cup diameter by .01". The throat and cup depth is also the same size as on the GP and GP6. The GP7 may be the solution if you just keep asking for something bigger.

$250

Cup Diameter: 1.1525" or 29.2735 mm

Practice techniques with Dave Taylor

New York
Nouveau
The NY blank weighs slightly more than modern day Bach mouthpieces (Elkhart blanks). Its weight is distributed evenly around the bottom of the cup. This results in an even core of sound with overlapping overtones, creating a tone quality that is thicker than conventional mouthpieces. The NY also provides the midrange overtones that are often lost with other mouthpieces.
Deco
Deco
The Deco blank is heavier in mass than the NY blank. The added weight is great for large bass trombone mouthpieces that may have thinner walls due to larger inner cup diameters. It is very free blowing and can provide a bigger, darker sound than mouthpieces with less weight. The Deco also provides stability, which can help define partials on those trombones where extra focus is needed.
Nouveau
Nouveau
Our newest mouthpiece blank, the Nouveau was created to give trombonists the flexibility a lighter mouthpiece can provide. It provides a width of sound and wider partial feel for a natural playing experience. Every tone and timbre can be manipulated, making the Nouveau a very expressive mouthpiece.
