We had a great week in the Edwards booth having people test the Griego Line. Glad so many of you enjoyed them. We soft launched the Griego-Ashton trumpet mouthpieces models 1, 2, 3, 4 and received some great feedback. We will have these up on the site as soon as I finish the trumpet and cornet shank piccolo mouthpieces.

For those of you ordering we are currently delivering within the week for silver plate. For testing and returns please go to Hickeys or Dillon who are both stocking dealers.

2011 Holiday Schedule

We will be shipping mouthpieces through the 20th of December. After this date we will be shutting down shipping until January 2nd in order to do year end inventory, maintenance, etc… Oh, we might visit the fam for the holidays as well during this time but that’s on a more personal level.

If you find yourself in need of a Griego mouthpiece at the last minute we understand. There are a great number of Griego Dealers that stock our mouthpieces and you can give them your business and they will greatly appreciate it. If the dealer you call does not have the model you are after, please give them a courteous reminder that they (as dealers) should have inventory and then proceed on to the next dealer on our site. Thanks for the great 2011 and we look forward to helping you create your next musical moment in 2012.

Lord Vader, Your B & D Cups Are Waiting

I’ve been working the past nine months on finishing the next Alessi Series cup lines. The B & D cups were the missing links and are now available (or soon will be) at your local Griego dealer.

We will make them available on this site once all dealers have them and are ready for your orders.

The B cup is a great solo mouthpiece and the D is a good all around mouthpiece for orchestral/symphonic playing.

First, I want to let everyone know I appreciate all the kind emails I received after launching the Alessi’s. It was a lot of fun working with Joe to create a new line for our customers.

We are working hard to keep up with all the orders coming in from our dealers and our online store. For those of you that are still on the fence about your purchase, please consider these Griego Authorized Dealers. They all stock our mouthpieces and provide great customer service.

I will be at the ETW next week and look forward to working with those of you that will be attending.

Griego-Alessi Mouthpieces Now Available

The wait is over (and your patience is appreciated)! We have been busy making mouthpieces and are excited to finally make the Griego-Alessi’s available on our own site.

Our dealers have pre-ordered these mouthpieces and many now have them in stock. Please feel free to order from them if you want to take advantage of their return policies. Our online store is also available for orders. As you may already know, we do not accept trials or returns (unless there is a manufacturing defect). Between working at Edwards and creating mouthpieces for Griego, I simply don’t have the time to handle returns. I will have trial kits and mouthpieces for sale at TMEA this week in San Antonio. If you are attending, please drop by and play test these new creations.

While we currently have silver Griego-Alessi’s in stock, an onslaught of orders could wipe us out of our reserves. I’ll be working nights and weekends to keep up with the demand. Order fulfillment should speed up once I get a feel for demand. My goal is to deliver every order as quickly as possible.

Gold-plated Griego-Alessi mouthpieces are not currently in stock, so delivery will take a little longer for those models.

One final request: please read the material provided on our web site before shooting off an email. The volume of emails I receive is quite heavy, and although I do my best to keep up, it can become overwhelming. If you do not receive an answer in 3-5 days, go ahead and re-send your message.

Alessi Update

Boxes should be here by Friday, yes the hold up is packaging. We’ll be packing inventory and shipping to dealers the first week of 2011. We’re launching only the large bore mouthpieces at this time. We do have plans for small bore but one thing at a time.

Alessi Seminar Update

The Alessi Seminar will be hear before you know it. In addition to the usual suspects (Alessi, Ellefson and Whitaker), this year’s seminar will feature Trombones de Costa Rica and Sim Flora. Trombonists interested in performing and/or teaching as a career choice should definitely attend this event. The delivery department is taking a long needed vacation tomorrow through the 10th. This means any order placed during this period will not ship until the 11th.

We pride ourselves in quick delivery but even the best employee’s need a break now and then.

For me, you’ll find me at the machine making new product getting ready for the upcoming launch of the Alessi line.

4.5 Nouveau

When I work on the T396-A trombone I always play a Griego mouthpiece or often one of my competitors to feel/hear what you do when you are playing.

Today I was testing a T396-A with a 4.5 Nouveau and man did it sing. Easy in all registers and beautiful sound (even for me). I think for the solo playing this combination works pretty darn well.

Enjoy these pieces, they are meant to be played.
